Prerequisite Skills

This course can accommodate Students with absolutely no prior handgun experience; however, we prefer Students to be capable of performing the following actions to standard with the handgun they intend to use during training:

  1. Apply firearms safety rules
  2. Load/unload a semi-automatic handgun magazine
  3. Load/unload a semi-automatic handgun
  4. Acquire a proper two-handed grip
  5. Assume a proper standing isosceles style stance
  6. Acquire proper sight alignment
  7. Acquire a proper sight picture
  8. Maintain proper breath control
  9. Apply proper trigger control
  10. Maintain proper follow through

Students attending this course must bring:

  • 550 Rounds Factory Loaded Pistol Ammunition
  • Semi-Automatic Handgun in Good Working Order
  • 3-5 Magazines (Will Be Dropped On Ground!)
  • Strong Side, Outside the Waist Band (OWB) Holster That Allows One Handed Re-Holster
  • Belt Mounted Pistol Magazine Pouches (2-3 Minimum)
  • Stiff Gun Belt
  • Ear Protection (Electronic Recommended)
  • Eye Protection (Tented Recommended)
  • Water Bottle or Camelbak Type Hydration System
  • Comfortable Outdoor Clothing, Weather Appropriate
  • Closed Toe Shoes/Boots

Students attending this course are encouraged to bring:

  • Magazine Dump Pouch
  • Baseball Style Hat
  • Shooting Gloves
  • Knee Pads
